Responsibilities: *plus if direct experience working with Illumina*
•Incumbent in this classification will work within the Biotechnology field
•The incumbent is responsible for designing, undertaking, and analyzing information from controlled laboratory-based investigations, experiments and trials
•Works alongside associate scientists in their daily operations and research in diverse biological areas
•The position participates in technical investigations of process deviations to ensure production proceeds as scheduled and also assists in the training of new or junior staff
•Researches and examines various aspects of the physical world in order to attain a better understanding of how things work and function
•Provides supervision and guidance to the manufacturing staff and ensures all operations are performed according to standard operating procedures
•Measure things, including distances, weights, and temperatures
•Maintains accurate records of research methods, procedures and results
•Participates in data management
•Collaborates in the writing of reports
•Communicate their findings with other scientists and with the public
•Studies the composition, structure, and properties of substances and their reactions
•Studies the chemical and physical principles of living things and biological processes
•Executes and provides oversight of all routine operations in the manufacturing of the Company's product
•Expert in aseptic technique and performing operations in a biological safety cabinet including media changes, cell passaging and in-process testing
•Independently completes required documentation and provides guidance to other operators on proper GMP recording of entries and comments in batch records, forms and protocols
•Plan and carry out all phases of assigned projects including, R&D, ensure adequate supplies, method validation, test procedure preparation, sample analysis, data calculation, interpretation & review, troubleshooting and report preparation
•Design basic experiments & evaluate outcome vs. current SOPs, protocols other relevant standards; recommend appropriate course of action as necessary
•Act as lead scientist, provide work instructions and technical training to more junior scientific staff in the conducting of assigned projects
•Interact with clients and/or auditors as necessary
•A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the biological sciences and five to seven years of professional biological experience
•A doctorate from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the biological sciences with one to two years
