Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for an Electronics & Payload Design Center Director -1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

As the Director, you will lead a team of greater than 300 people across Digital Hardware Engineering, and will report functionally to the Director of Electronics and Payloads (E&P).

You are responsible for:
  • The functional management of a diverse portfolio of talent focused on the design and development of Electronics and Payload technology, products and subsystems for space, air, and ground applications.
  • Driving engineering execution, developing talent, building strong teams, leading change, and solving complex technical problems
  • Long range strategic planning and all aspects of functional homeroom performance and operations
  • Oversee program/project reviews, NCTA activities and process improvement plans, proposal review and signoff, and capital planning and management
  • Special assignments which include proposal support, independent technical reviews, program standup reviews, and technical audits
  • Provide vision and strategy to work within E&P, collaborating across E&P centers and in alignment with leadership and corporate goals, which includes leading change and outcomes in hiring and staffing, championing digital transformation and process excellence initiatives, improving operational efficiency and building a robust pipeline of center talent.
  • A proactive interface to programs to enhance collaboration and performance, as well as to other organizations within SSSD Engineering on ensuring excellent program performance, business development and technology advancement.
The selected candidate will have experience in many or all phases of design and development engineering through production and test, including program management, and a successful track record working development programs with manufacturing, verification and validation experience. You will be a leader in driving team collaboration and possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, to support with executive reviews and presentations.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 10 years of combined experience in electronics or payload design, processes and subsystem architecture
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SCI Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree or higher in STEM
  • SCI clearance/access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and build teams, technology, suppliers, customers, cost, schedule and baseline control
  • Prior experience managing an engineering technical organization
  • Deep technical breadth in discipline of Digital hardware or system design, development, and production
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) across all levels of the organization and strong partnership/collaboration skills.
Salary Range: $180,200 USD - $270,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
