Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
What you'll get to do:
Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division is seeking a Systems Engineering subject matter expert who will report to the SDS Division Systems Engineering Tools lead, and be responsible for supporting development and maturation of the System Requirements activities across SDS programs, including technical leadership for processes and best practices across the IBM Rational DOORS software suite.
System Requirements technical leadership responsibilities include:
• Provide technical leadership to company investments related to System Requirements tools and processes for Sentinel and other programs, and integration of DOORS with other Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools
• Advising programs and digital transformation functions regarding program level System Requirements processes, best practices and tool maturation approaches, with the goal of improving management and coordination of system baseline definition and verification through functional architecture and system requirements
• Maintaining, streamlining and establishing consistent practices within the DOORS environment, which includes data created internal to programs and modules received from the customer and subcontractors
• Identifying and analyzing technological problems or risks related to DOORS and system requirements processes
• Support the Requirements Model lead by ensuring the Requirements baseline is consistent with all approved baseline updates
• Driving the completeness and consistency of necessary attributes and linkages within SDS programs' DOORS environments
• Improve processes for data synchronization for DOORS across classification environments
• Help define format and process for deliverables packaging for customer delivery (DOORS archives, .REQIF files, etc.)
• Develop DOORS and model governance training packages
• Create progress and stability metrics
This position requires a detail-oriented candidate with natural process acumen (i.e., 'wired' to think in terms of process) and the ability to:
• Establish strong working relationships and integrate across programs and functions
• Understand issues from multiple viewpoints
• Influence without authority while navigating program and organizational landscapes to lead diverse teams in achieving breakthrough results
• Quickly assimilate information that is being delivered verbally
• Articulate information in a process format and communicate in a precise manner using English (written and verbal)
• Demonstrate a high standard of accountability to function autonomously, with little direction, supervision, or oversight

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You'll bring these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline plus 9 years of experience in a technical role OR Master's Degree plus 7 years of experience in a technical role; 4 Years with PhD.
  • At least 3 years of experience working closely with DOORS requirements management tool, including experience with DOORS DXL development and database manipulation
  • A bility to obtain DoD Secret security clearance
  • Mature requirements definition experience including definition of verification plans
These qualifications would be nice to have:
  • Experience implementing system architecture definition using UPDM and/or SysML in an MBSE tool such as MagicDraw (Cameo Enterprise Architect), Rhapsody, CORE etc.
  • Experience with complex system development on large programs
  • Active DoD Secret / Top Secret security clearance

Salary Range: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
