Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary This position is responsible for developing, analyzing, monitoring, and presenting budgets and financial reports for the Olin Business School. Job Description Ability to travel to on- and off-campus locations.Â Remote work as dictated by business needs. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Develops, analyzes, and monitors a set of budgets, ensuring they adhere to School and University requirements. Ensures the approved budget is reflected accurately in the overall School and University budget.Â In order to fully understand each departmentâ™s operation, it is important to meet regularly with and build relationships with Department Heads. Â Researches and develops pro forma budgets for new initiatives. Determines reporting needs and create customized reports tailored to their specific operational needs.Â Remains current in new applications to ensure effective and efficient delivery of information. Analyzes income and expenses and investigate issues.Â Identifies opportunities to operate more efficiently.Â Prepares and delivers monthly budget analysis reports, including variance explanations and recommendations for addressing those variances.Â Audits/reconciles materials ensure the information meets Olinâ™s high standards. This includes reviewing own work and the work of others. Presents financial reports to Associate Deans and Directors on a periodic basis. Works with Olin Accounting and University Central Finance quarterly to explain Core report variance explanations per the Core report schedule. Prepares budget packages for submission to the Sr. Associate Dean for Finance and Dean.Â Provides summarized and detailed reports on historical, current, and projected activity and footnote significant variances.Â Assists with presenting the information to Olinâ™s Senior Leadership Team. Ensures compliance with University and Olin financial policies.Â Oversees and approves unrestricted and restricted financial transactions.Â Provides guidance and training to department personnel.Â Reconcile accounts for accuracy. Works with University Central Finance to address financial issues, including but not limited to School Accounting, Financial Aid, Advancement, Gift Accounting, Payroll and Human Resources, Tax, and Accounts Payable. Provides backup for all Olin Departments and financial initiatives as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Prefers experience in an academic environment and knowledge of fund accounting and experience with Washington University Financial/Administrative Information Systems (e.g. Workday, Salesforce, Cognos). Experience in budgeting, reporting, and analysis with the ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on developed information. Strong financial/transactional operations and workflow experience. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills. Excellent spreadsheet, word processing, and database management skills. Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently.Â Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and accounting skills Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Â Must have a customer service perspective.Â Demonstrated ability to use discretionary judgment and maintain confidentiality in working with financial and budget information.Â Ability to work with a variety of people (i.e. faculty, staff, students, other University contacts, etc.). Required Qualifications An undergraduate degree in accounting or related field with three years of professional accounting experience. Grade G11 Salary Range $49,000.00 - $83,800.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
