Assistant Director of Development, Neuroscience and Medicine Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full-time fundraising experience in a higher education institution, a large non-profit, or complex healthcare system (or sales or related experience). Proven record of success in cultivating, soliciting, and raising funds from individual donors or institutions. Experience managing numerous priorities and a portfolio of donor/client relationships. Proficiency working with Microsoft Office and Google products. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two or more additional years (5+) of fundraising experience in Higher Education, a large non-profit or complex healthcare system. Fundraising campaign experience. Successful track record closing leadership annual giving level gifts. Contact management software experience (i.e. Raiser's Edge). Brief Description of Duties : The Assistant Director of Development is expected to build and carry a portfolio of major gift prospects. The Assistant Director of Development will dedicate their time exclusively to cultivating and soliciting qualified alumni and friends who have the resources and inclination to support Stony Brook University. While subject to change based on an individual development officer's portfolio, the Assistant Director of Development is required to meet clearly defined metrics annually. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties: In conjunction with Advancement leadership, develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program. Achieve specific and measurable goals for contacts, effective portfolio management, proposals presented, and dollars raised. Serve as a member of the Stony Brook Advancement team, coordinate efforts with the broader work of University Advancement, participate as a professional and team member in various Advancement tasks and functions, communicate clearly and consistently with colleagues about goals, progress, and activities. Manage a core group of annual fund level and major gift prospects toward solicitation. Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit each prospect. Steward existing donors appropriately to encourage long-term relationships. Engage faculty and volunteers in the cultivation and solicitation of gifts. Attend appropriate alumni, college, and University events that present opportunities to advance prospect or donor relationships. Assist in the coordination of cultivation activities, donor recognition and stewardship events in support of fund-raising goals. Utilize and maintain prospect tracking and contact reporting through Raiser's Edge. Prepare written proposals and support documentation for gift acceptance in accordance with SBU Foundation accounting procedures. This includes the preparation of LOIs (letter of intent), fund agreements and MOUs (memorandum of understanding). Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Special Notes: The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
