Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Principal/ Electronics Engineer, within the Global Hawk Mission Systems IPT, for the NATO AGS Program to join. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.The selected candidate will report to the NATO Mission Systems sub-IPT Lead, providing local and site engineering expertise and support alongside other engineers and technicians. This position requires up 10-15% travel.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinating and completing LRU ATPs alongside QA, Test technicians, and engineering
  • Failure Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) identification
  • Working alongside Supplier Management Team (SMT) leads to ensure vendor repairs are completed and on schedule
  • Liaison with site POCs to develop detailed execution plans for installations, upgrades, and test events.
  • Generate and present engineering change packages (ECP) to engineering leadership that allows the implementation of new LRUs or capabilities
  • Review of engineering logs and data to ensure nominal system operation
  • Providing onsite (CONUS and OCONUS) engineering support for flight tests, and Real World Operations (RO) and troubleshooting
  • Perform field integration, troubleshooting and repair of communications and data link systems in military flight test environment, including operations on a flightline, in a hangar, and in command and control centers.
  • Coordinate between teams and IPTs on system deliveries and handoff
  • Create Contract Deliverables related to Hardware (PowerPoint/Excel)
  • The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with significantly diverse assignments, and a have good communication skills to support multi-level collaboration
Basic Qualifications (Electronics Engineer):
  • Bachelor Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 or more years of engineering experience; OR Master Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 0 or more years of engineering experience
  • Interim DoD Secret or DoE equivalent or higher required to be considered
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work confidently in a high-pressure environment, while interacting with all levels of staff from flight-line and field technicians to executive management
Basic Qualifications (Principal Electronics Engineer):
  • Bachelor Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 or more years of engineering experience; OR Master Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 3 or more years of engineering experience; OR PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 1 or more years of engineering experience
  • Interim Secret or DoE equivalent or higher required to be considered
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work confidently in a high-pressure environment, while interacting with all levels of staff from flight-line and field technicians to executive management
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with analog and digital interfaces
  • Experience with Solid State Drives (SSD) with various interfaces
  • Experience with Mission Data Recorders
  • Knowledge of with Encryption technologies and processes to include: Type1, Type 1: Cryptographic High Value Product, Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC)
  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Confluence, Crucible) desired.
  • Experience writing and maintaining technical documents
  • Engineering experience testing technical solutions and/or bug fixes in lab environments
  • Willing and able to travel up to 20% (domestic and international)
Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
