Summary:

Offensive Counter Air/Defense Air (OCA/DCA) Simulations Analyst: Subject matter experienced US military fighter/attack crew member who will work, as part of an integrated engineering and operational SME team at Kirtland Air Force Base to provide operational and analytical expertise for the planning and execution of Air Combat Command's Distributed Mission Operations Center warfighter training, testing, and experimentation exercises/events. Additionally, this effort supports Live, Virtual and Constructive system development and operational exercise support within a synthetic battlespace.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the translation of operational fighter training requirements into exercise design, build and execution and will support requirements definition for Virtual and Constructive simulations, scenario generation tools, mission planning tools, interactive system requirements, and exercise collaboration tools.
  • Work with system engineers to plan, coordinate support for, and execute system integration testing and will operate selected constructive simulators, within the DMOC, to support site/system integration and Virtual Flag/other exercise scenario executions.
  • The fighter SME can expect to cover all US fighter mission areas with regards to exercise planning, development and execution to support warfighter training requirements across the joint services and coalition partners.
  • Interface with other military SMEs, from other weapons systems, to form a theater level exercise that challenges the missions facing our DoD today and in the future.
  • Expect to support 4 Virtual Flags annually with one involving coalition partners, specialize warfighter focused events, C2 weapons school training and other events with specialized training objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years experience, or a High School diploma with 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • OCA/DCA experience at a flight lead, or higher, level.
  • 1000 hours as primary crew member, or at least two operational assignments as a mission ready crew/pilot - this may equate to less than 1000 hours.
  • 100 Instructor hours (not necessarily in OCA/DCA, but in fighter aircraft).
  • Must understand exercise design, development and training principles associate with AFTTP mission threads; DCA cap management/employment, escort, interdiction, TSTs, PR, IAMD, AIMT.
  • Familiar with ATOs, ACOs, SPINs, TNLs, ACP, AOD, RTL, JMSEL, etc.
  • Experienced with Mission Planning tools (PFPS, JMPS, Falcon View, etc.).
  • Due to the nature of connecting Virtual Simulators from around the world, the candidate will need to be open to technical understanding of military networks, Combat Air Force Standards, disparate simulator protocols and connectivity requirements within the Distributed Mission Operations construct.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Flight lead / IWSO during a major exercise - Red Flag (Nevada or Alaska), Northern Edge, etc.
  • Experienced with various military networks; DMON, JTEN, ARCNets, etc.
  • Knowledge of Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS).
  • Experience in 4th/5th Generation mission planning and execution.
  • Formal flight school instructor or fighter evaluator or Weapons School Graduate.
  • Understanding of: DMO network architectures, Information Assurance requirements and DMO standards, Constructive Force Simulation Generators, Simulator operations, LVC operations; protocols, enumerations, Distributed Information Sharing.
  • Downrange experience will be extremely beneficial in understanding how operational and tactical C2 interfaces with the weapons systems of each service and their roles and responsibilities within each of the various theaters of operations.
  • Best served by having a grasp of current threat replications within the modeling and simulation environment and having an awareness of simulator limitations with regard to system capabilities.
