Qualified candidates with a minimum of two years of experience are eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) for the Short Stay Unit (3RCW). The Short Stay Unit is part of UIHC's Medical Surgical Services (MSS) division. 3RCW is a 16-bed adult unit that serves a wide variety of outpatient services for patient populations that are expected to stay in the hospital one night following their procedure or surgery. The focus is on recovery and providing patients the necessary education to make a safe transition back home following their short stay. Each day the unit will admit and discharge the majority of their patient census. The highest volume of patients seen on this unit includes orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, plastics, cardiology, ERCP, and other recovery patients. Percent of Time : 90% (36 hours/week) Schedule: Rotating Day/Night shifts- 8 and/or 12 hour shifts. Mon- Fri Limited holiday hours. Experience Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions. General computer skills are required, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire. Desirable Qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is highly desired If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable Application Requirements: A resume is required as part of the application process.
