Senior Staff Assistant Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume) Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years professional experience in student recruitment, sales, marketing, communications or a related field. Experience with outreach, in person and online, including special event planning. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Higher Education Administration or related field. Experience working in higher education. Experience working with diverse student groups. Proficiency in technology platforms, including but not limited to: Google Apps, Adobe Suite, Social Media. Brief Description of Duties: Incumbent will play a role in developing and executing recruitment and outreach plans for the School of Communication and Journalism (SoCJ) undergraduate and graduate degree programs, in collaboration with faculty and staff in the School and the Office of Enrollment Management. Under the supervision of the School's Communications Manager, the incumbent will represent the School of Communication and Journalism at internal and external events; assist with marketing and communications; and manage and plan events. Duties: Work in coordination with Stony Brook's Office of Enrollment Management to continue to build and refine long-term, measurable recruitment and reputation management strategies at the undergraduate and graduate level, including a growing number of academic programs; Work collaboratively with SoCJ staff to plan, market and execute targeted student-recruitment and other engagement events at the undergraduate and graduate level, including domestic and international summer programs and School-specific orientation programming; Raise the visibility of and prominence of the School by representing the School at on-campus recruitment events, as well as off-campus college fairs, relevant professional societies and conferences, including travel when necessary; Support branding and communication efforts, including social media and website content management, and graphic design work; Work with collaboratively with SoCJ Development Director, SBU's enrollment management and financial aid teams to think strategically about scholarships and student support; Other duties as assigned. Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulation that all hospitals and nursing homes "continuously require all personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19," Candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of acceptance of conditional job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. Candidates who are partially vaccinated, but not yet fully vaccinated, must complete their vaccination series within three (3) calendar days of job offer or in accordance with vaccine manufacture protocol, whichever comes later. The regulation also includes those who may be affiliated with or interact with employees of a hospital or nursing home.
