The Rokers Vision Laboratory in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Research Assistant to work on projects focused on the assessment of the neural mechanisms underlying visual perception. Research in the Rokers Vision Laboratory focuses on the study of the neural mechanisms of visual perception using behavioral, neuroimaging and computational methods. Central goals of the laboratory are the study of the neural mechanisms underlying motion and depth perception and spatial heterogeneities across the visual field. To achieve these objectives, research projects rely on behavioral studies, eye-tracking, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as well as virtual and augmented reality. Responsibilities of the research assistant include conducting literature reviews, recruiting participants, collecting behavioral and neuroimaging data, programming experiments and data analysis routines, and training new lab members. The research assistant will also assist in drafting research reports for dissemination of research findings. Applicants with a strong interest in the visual system, good organization skills and prior programming experience are encouraged to apply. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Science or equivalent and prior experience in a lab setting. The ideal candidate will have extensive programming experience with MATLAB, experience with collecting and analyzing neuroimaging (dMRI and fMRI) and eye tracking data, and a background in psychophysical techniques and experimental psychology or neuroscience. Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
