Position Summary:

This position will be a Field Vehicle Recondition in g Trainer will be part of a team focused on o pening AutoNation preowned vehicle stores. This team is responsible for planning, implementing, and ensuring our A ssociates at new points are trained and ready to provide a peerless customer experience for every store opening, every time. The AutoNation USA Tra iner is an indiv idual contributor who is responsible for facilitating both virtual and in-person training with an emphasis in NEW store openings and sustainment training . On occasion, you may be tasked to provide t raining for our shared services center, OEM stores, and /or corporate employees.

You will work with all levels of leadership and store personnel. What this means is that you will work with parts Associates, service advisors, recon technicians , used ve hicle sales managers, and entry level personnel up to and including General Managers with a focus on our preowned car stores. You will be the subject matter expert in the reconditioning of vehicles . This includes the AutoNation reconditioning process for preowned cars, software programs including RPR ( AutoNation's recon tracking software) , NexPart , CDK Drive, Coupa ( AutoNation's cloud-based spend management app) and any additional software used in after sale s used vehicle recondition ing. You will be on the cutting edge of large-scale operational change programs representing the Corporate Learning & Development training team. Although you would be a member of the Corporate training team, this position requires you to work remotely from your home office when not tra veling and opening a new store. Please note this position requires 75% or greater travel from coast to coast as you will not be assigned a specific market.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Deliver virtual or in person training programs throughout AutoNation and AutoNation USA (preowned vehicles) .
  • Provide the AutoNation USA (preowned vehicles) sales process to S ales A ssociates, S ales M anagers, and G eneral M anagers and ensure they are prepared and ready to go live when the store opens
  • Work with Market and Store leadership to ensure sustained performance improvement of associates and manage ment in stores.
  • Organize, manage, and facilitate large-scale training events across AutoN ation.
  • Implement new operational programs in stores.
  • Conduct follow-up on programs you facilitated and implemented to ensure performance improvement of associates and managers is sustained.
  • Learn and demonstrate the skills and behaviors required for the programs that you will train and implement.
  • In concert with your team's Manager, work with the AS Ds, RODMs , and RTMs to coordinate all elements of training rollout
  • Participate in Train-the-Trainer programs to become competent in training new curriculum.
  • Assess training effectiveness and p rovide feedback on the content and training materials as part of L earning & Development 's continuous improvement cycle.
  • Track training, attendance , completion , and certification through AutoNation 's L earning M anagement S ystem (LMS).
  • Create and revise training and reference materials as necessary, in order to adapt to operational changes that occur
  • U se MS Office 365 collaboration tools to effectively participate remotely in regular team meetings and frequent workshops.
  • Participate in the team's feedback program to provide effective feedback to store leadership, A ssociates and managers when in the field.
  • Participate in the team's feedback program to provide and receive effective feedback to and from your teammates.
  • Manage travel expenses and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Continue development of self as a professional corporate trainer through attending online training opportunities, reading industry literature, and attending approved trainer development workshops.
Your Additional Job responsibilities include:
  • Providing periodic back-up to RTMs when workload dictates or in support of new RTM onboarding.
  • Designing and developing training materials for workshops and rollouts.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in a learning and development capacity, or operational leadership role that included training as part of the job.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills are essential.
  • Flexibility - comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment demonstrated through working on multiple projects at the same time within tight timelines
  • Intermediate skills with general PC usage and applications
  • Intermediate skills with MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated experience in presenting to groups in a classroom environment and/or the virtual environment ( e.g. Teams/ Zoom/Webex /Adobe Connect ) as well as a personal one on one training environment
  • An understanding of automotive retail operations, both variable and fixed operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • AutoNation and/or AutoNation USA experience is preferred
  • Prior automotive reconditioning experience is preferred
  • RPR, NexPart , CDK Drive, Coupa , or other auto service /parts software knowledge is preferred
  • Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) credentials (formerly CPLP)
  • Learning design and development certifications
  • Willing to take initiative , be a self-starter and thrive in taking a hands-on approach to challenging and sometimes ambiguous work.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
  • R equire s extensive travel (75% +), which includes cross-country air travel, and long-term hotel stays.
  • You must be able to lift 50 lbs. when traveling with training materials, technologies, and luggage.
