Current Need

McKesson is seeking an Employee Relations Consultant for its HR team! This role can be based near one of McKesson's offices: Alpharetta, GA; Columbus, OH; Scottsdale, AZ; Richmond, VA; or Irving, TX.

Position Description

The ER Consultant provides first level response and consultation for day-to-day employee relations questions and concerns. This role works collaboratively with Business Leaders, Legal, People Leader Solutions, HR Business Partners, Corporate Security and Compliance to minimize risk to the business. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Employee Relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to all employee-initiated ER issues received from the HR Support Center for assigned business(es).
  • Investigate and resolve ER issues, to include gathering and analyzing evidence, applying relevant laws, policies and past practice to reach conclusions.
  • Interpret and apply understanding of corporate policy, employment law, and other regulations to provide immediate advice, guidance, or clarification for ER inquiries.
  • Provide consultation, guidance and coaching to supervisors, managers and HRBPs to address employee conduct concerns; provide guidance and assist with the development and delivery of appropriate feedback or corrective/disciplinary actions.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify proactive measures
  • Provide training on Employee Relations topics
  • Review and approval of all involuntary terminations
  • Maintain required documentation within case management system(s), including intake and investigative notes, supporting documents and final reports.
  • Escalate ER issues that meet pre-defined criteria and use judgment to assess risk and sensitivity of ambiguous cases determining when to escalate to ER management

Minimum Requirements

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree required; preferred coursework in business or industrial relations, HR, public relations, or related field
  • PHR/SPHR preferred.

Critical Skills
  • Four (4)+ years of HR experience within employee relations responsibility across multiple levels of the organization
  • Experience processing or handling terminations, investigating employee or manager concerns and assisting with policy violations
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Strong Customer Orientation
  • Knowledge of laws impacting employment matters

  • Strong Written/Oral Communication Skills
