Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer/Principal Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer (VDI) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

The selected candidate will assist with Datacenter design, documentation, configuration, deployment, and VDI Engineering roles and will need knowledge of the existing systems.

Essential Functions:
- Plan and maintain the VDI environment utilizing VMware Horizon best practices
- Plan, organize, and maintain infrastructure and documentation of VDI
- Ensure high availability of the operation state of the VDI with failover planning
- Engage in capacity plan exercises to ensure adequate system resources
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Basic Qualifications Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer:
  • Bachelor Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 or more years of STEM related engineering experience; OR Master Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 0 or more years of STEM related engineering experience
  • Familiarity with virtualized infrastructure and VDI
  • Familiarity with Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Active DoD TS Clearance (Required to be considered)
  • Ability to gain PAR (Can start prior to PAR being granted but will work unclass)
Basic Qualifications Principal Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer:
  • Bachelor Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 or more years of STEM related engineering experience; OR Master Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 3 or more years of STEM related engineering experience; OR PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 1 or more years of STEM related engineering experience
  • Familiarity with virtualized infrastructure and VDI
  • Familiarity with Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Active DoD TS Clearance (Required to be considered)
  • Ability to gain PAR (Can start prior to PAR being granted but will work unclass)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience listed in essential functions
  • Familiarity with Jira or other issue tracking system
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to develop and maintain Bash and Python scripts
  • Familiarity with storage systems and basic networking
  • Familiarity with version control and Subversion
  • Ability to author and maintain technical installation, configuration, and update procedures
  • Ability to provide engineering technical support for peer teams
  • Ability to engineer and test new technical solutions and/or bug fixes in lab environments
  • Active PAR

Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
