Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary Washington University seeks an advancement professional for the position of Senior Associate Director of Advancement supporting the Division of Student Affairs. The Senior Associate Director of Advancement is responsible for managing a portfolio of major gift donors and working closely with other University Advancement colleagues as well as leaders and colleagues on the Danforth Campus. The Student Affairs Advancement team strives to further the mission of Washington University by creating a culture of philanthropy among alumni, parents, and friends. All members of the Student Affairs Advancement team accomplish this by cultivating and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders. The Senior Associate Director of Advancement reports to the Executive Director of Advancement. The Senior Associate Director is responsible for planning and implementing a strong departmental program for their assigned area of Student Affairs to increase philanthropic support. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Develop and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects (capitally rated $100,000 and higher). Develop and execute thoughtful, innovative, and individualized strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high priority donors and prospects, involving Advancement colleagues and university leaders as appropriate. Meet all development goals jointly set with the Executive Director of Advancement. Metrics will focus on meaningful contacts, qualifications, solicitations, dollars solicited, dollars raised, and number of gifts closed. Â Development work will focus on alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, corporations, and foundations. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the internal constituents across Advancement and the Danforth Campus. Serve as the liaison for specific departments within Student Affairs working closely with an Associate Vice Chancellor and within University Advancement services. Develop a broad comprehension of Wash Uâ™s history, mission, strategic plan, leadership, and Division of Student Affairsâ™ priorities and departments. Undertake special projects and assignments to advance the mission of Washington University. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree. Development or closely related experience, preferably in higher education, with experience soliciting leadership gifts of $1,000 to $50,000, or more. Experience in annual fund, planned giving, major gift and/or capital campaign fundraising. Proven track record of successful solicitations. Honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow through. Ability to think strategically and analytically, and then implement effectively. Demonstrated passion for initiating meetings and developing relationships with prospects. Deep appreciation for and ability to articulate the mission and aspirations of the Division of Student Affairs and Washington University. Capacity to listen carefully, learn quickly, and work effectively. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with high net worth individuals. Ability to work within a complex organization across multiple units dealing with diverse constituents toward development objectives. Sound judgment and the ability to make independent decisions while working collaboratively through a team approach. Comfortable working in an environment that emphasizes measurable fundraising goals. Required Qualifications Bachelorâ™s degree. Five years of related experience. Grade G14 Salary Range $68,200.00 - $116,600.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
