Off Highway Controls - Technical Specialist

Description

We are looking for a talented Off-Highway Controls – Technical Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Engine Business Segment in Columbus, IN. This product focused position tailors electronic systems for Cummins products. This role will work with SMEs in the Off-Highway area and will work on software DCR (Defect/Change Request) analysis and calibration tuning based on that analysis. In addition, new software feature development is also in scope including developing and interpreting customer requirements based on VOCs (Voice of Customer).

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Configure (tune), integrate, test, and release software, electronic control units, tools, sensors, actuators, and harnesses into an electronic system that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.
  • Investigate electronic application and systems problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution and document results.
  • Apply and improve electronic application and systems development processes and tools. Processes include system specification, modelling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. Tools include Simulink, calibration tools, and PTC Integrity.
  • Obtain input and negotiate with product and software development teams and deliver control system designs, verified and calibrated software features and build to product teams.
  • Make decisions in the areas of electronic systems design, requirements, calibration, and test that impact the quality and performance of calibrated subsystems and feature classes of electronic subsystems.
  • Responsible for review of less-experienced developers/testers’ work to ensure robust, reusable, and efficient design.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
  • Prior experience troubleshooting complex hardware/software interactions is required.
  • Prior experience running software test cases is required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
