Job Summary: The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, a brain imaging center, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future. This position will work within the Pediatric Neuromodulation Laboratory (PI: Bernadette Gillick) and will conduct research incorporating neuroimaging, neuromodulation using transcranial magnetic stimulation/electromyography and stereotactic neuro-navigation and behavioral outcomes in early brain injury. In addition to opportunities for independent related study opportunities for this position, the Scientist will be directly involved in a lead role in an early brain injury study funded by a 5-year NIH R01 award. This will include longitudinal neuroimaging analysis, in conjunction with neuromodulation/electrophysiologic and motor/behavioral assessments. The position includes opportunity for involvement in independently led studies, other related studies, and development of new studies/grant applications. Qualifications: Qualified applicants will have the following required experience: - A minimum of four years' experience in a clinical and/or translational neuroimaging laboratory or postdoctoral fellowship/experience in Neuroscience or Biomedical Engineering. - Experience in management of resources and research projects. - Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask and to effectively delegate tasks. - Strong communication skills, technical writing ability and publication record. - Experience in image processing and signal analysis of neuroimaging and electrophysiology data (EEG, MRI/fMRI, evoked potentials, etc.) - Programming experience (Matlab, Python, Linux, etc.) - Interest in pediatric neurological disorders Well-qualified applicants will have the following preferred experience and knowledge: - A background in neuroanatomy and electrophysiology. - Demonstrated ability to independently carry out neuroimaging research in human populations. - Experience running MRI/fMRI/EEG scans in human subjects. - Experience with brain functional connectivity analysis. - Interest and/or experience with non-invasive neuromodulation methods such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), and interest transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). - Experience in pediatric neurological disorders. - Experience in working with children and their caregivers/parents. - Experience in grant writing and IRB submissions/coordination. - Excellent communication skills. - Strong technical writing ability and publication record.
