Job Description: The Syracuse University Department of Drama seeks to hire a one-year Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in lighting design. Primary expertise should be in lighting design. Design experience/expertise in other areas (film, television, events, concerts, etc.) is desirable. The department seeks candidates whose personal and professional experience, teaching, and creative activity contribute to the advancement of equity, cultural wealth, and diversity. Successful candidates will enhance the department's capacity both to honor the contributions of those communities that have historically been under-represented or underserved in theater training and/or the theatrical profession. The position may serve as designer for department productions and as both academic and design advisor to student designers in all areas of theatrical design (sets, lights, costumes), guiding them in the creation and realization of professional quality theatrical designs in accordance with emerging best professional practices. Positions begins Fall 2022.
