Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

The qualified applicant will support a diverse portfolio of international development activities. As part of your assignment, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to determine how exportability technologies, procedures and U.S. Government Policies can best be integrated into air-based systems within the NGAS portfolio.

As Northrop Grumman expands marketing into the global arena, Export Compliance is critical in protecting our intellectual property as well as adhere to U.S. Government ITAR Regulations. As a Lead Export Technical Advisor you will perform a key role to ensure compliance.

Essential Duties:
• US Export / Import Laws...
• Contribute to National Security by safeguarding critical US technologies
• Contribute to International Security by limiting the flow of dangerous technologies
• Protect US businesses and workers from unauthorized competition
• Ensure US compliance with international agreements
• Ensure Northrop Grumman compliance with those laws and objectives
• Ensure that commodities, technologies, and data are correctly matched with the appropriate regulations
• Support Export license & agreement preparation and implementation
• Review and approval of Data/Service Export Authorizations (DSEA)
• Provide Jurisdiction/Classification of parts and technologies
• Review and approve Public release requests as an Export TA
• Support of Program-specific export training
• Export program support, including meetings, providing regulatory guidance, responding to questions, research, etc.
• Work closely with engineers of other disciplines to optimize compliance
• Work independently and mentor junior engineers

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer level:
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with no experience
• A current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Engineer level:
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 4 years of related engineering experience
• A current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• An active U.S. Government issued DoD Top Secret security clearance and/or previous SAP/SAR clearance

Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
