Systems Administrator, Principal

ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission oriented Principal Systems Administrator in the Chantilly, VA area.  As a Principal Systems Administrator on our ICON team, you will be responsible for working as part of a small focused technical team to test, maintain, implement and deliver our solution. Duties include document, implement, troubleshoot, maintain, and test our PL-3 reference architecture consisting of Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, Virtual Servers and Desktop Infrastructure, and core applications and services based on those platforms. Key technology areas include VMware vCenter infrastructure, Windows Server 2019, Active Directory, Group Policies, Public Key Infrastructure, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Internet Information Server, WSUS, PowerShell, Splunk, Tanium, and McAfee Security Solutions.  The ideal candidate will also possess experience with system verification and testing; patch management; issue and problem management; RMF/JSIG assessment and authorization.

The Systems Administrator, Principal will:

  • Conduct monthly patching on the multiple environments that make up the PL-3 reference architecture
  • Perform system operability verification tests.
  • As part of the team help maintain documentation to include system configuration, knowledge base, operation guides and standard operating procedures.
  • Interact with and help the PL-3 reference architecture customers with the implementation of the reference architecture.
  • Participate in preparing the PL-3 reference architecture for assessment and authorization (A&A).
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings (TEMs) with other technical professionals.
  • Assist the Systems Engineers with conducting research and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, workstations, and peripherals (virtual and physical)
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain consistency in design and implementation, as well as ensuring environment stability and providing notification of issues/concerns
  • Create and modify scripts to automate tasks
  • Work under general direction, with limited supervision

Positions Requirements:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree and 7-9 years of related experience.
  • Extensive experience with MS Office, Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell.
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Active Directory Group Policy.
  • Knowledge of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)
  • Knowledge of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and Domain Name System (DNS).
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to explain moderately complex ideas or information clearly
  • Must possess analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Skilled in identifying and solving problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources
  • Must possess the ability to listen and receive feedback, and consistently share information with the team
    • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
    • Excellent attention to details and diligent adherence to deadlines and deliverables
    • Must possess DoD 8570 IAT-II certification
    • Experience with Agile Scrum Methodology

Physical Requirements:

Operate computer equipment. Ability to stand and/or sit 50%. Must be able to detect, identify, recognize, observe, assess, and handle stress and work well under pressure.

Security Requirements: 
 

Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph.
