Job Description: The Museum Registrar at the Syracuse University Art Museum performs and manages essential museum-related collections and management tasks, managing over 45,000 collection objects, maintaining records for the collection and overseeing care, storage, and movement of collection. The registrar assists with the development and implements policies and procedures that are in keeping with best professional practice for the registration, documentation, fine art photography, packing, handling, storage, condition reports, display, and security of objects on loan to and in the SU Art Museum's collections. The registrar conducts ongoing TMS (The Museum System) and eMuseum database development and management, including recording locations, cataloging artworks, updating record information, unifying lexicon, accessioning, deaccessioning, and inventory. Will also manage and complete all paperwork for new museum acquisitions, including gifts, transfers, and purchases as well as monitoring environmental conditions and light levels in museum galleries and art storage.
