Tablet Installation Technician

About the Position 

As a Tablet Installation Technician with First Student, you will be part of a team performing tablet installations on over 40,000 school buses nationwide! The Tablet Installation Technician will need to be able to travel 75% of the time, be a team player, and have a willingness to learn on the job. This role will also assist with mechanical repairs in a shop environment while not traveling. If you are seeking a long-term career as a vehicle maintenance & repair technician, this job is for you! Other major responsibilities as Tablet Installation Technician will include:

  • Follow installation procedures for mobile computers, mobile radios, and mounting components. Ensure all mounting components are properly installed and vehicle interior is left in the original condition.
  • Maintain daily work schedule as outlined by your manager/team lead.
  • Monitor inventory to ensure installation products are available, and contact proper department to arrange shipment of necessary items.
  • Communicate regularly with management on the progress of the project and any problems encountered.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance, repairs, and other job duties in the shop as needed.

Qualifications of Tablet Installation Technician

  • Auto or diesel technical school training is preferred
  • Knowledge and interest in vehicles maintenance, repair, and installation practices. Commercial vehicle install or upfit experience is preferred.
  • Willing to learn and assist with auto/diesel vehicle maintenance and repairs in a shop environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel 75% of the time (3 weeks out of the month)
  • Must live near a major airport and a First Student location.
  • Subject to a drug test.
