The Muscle Molecular Physiology Laboratory (MMPL), led by Erin Talbert, at the University of Iowa is seeking a full-time, post-baccalaureate research intern to assist with our research projects. Our laboratory employs a variety of techniques and experimental designs primarily to understand to the effects of cancer on skeletal muscle and other body tissues through a condition called cachexia. The individual hired for this position will be expected to: Perform day-to-day experimental activities, maintain detailed up-to-date laboratory notebook, utilize safe laboratory and animal protocols. Assist with laboratory regulatory processes, including protocol development and communication. Assist with data management. Perform other lab management and research-related tasks. This position is ideal for someone ultimately interested in pursuing graduate education or a career in research. For more details see Training and mentoring will be provided. The lab was recently formed and is housed in the Department of Health and Human Physiology. We offer a collaborative, inclusive research environment with opportunity for research-related training and professional development. Work Schedule: 40 hours per week; hours will vary according to needs of the laboratory. May include some night/weekend hours.
