Requisition Number: S_220504 Department: School of Natural Resources-0844 Description of Work: Responsible for the management of resources and facilities of the Agro-meteorology Laboratory and field research sites, coordinating their use by other universities, private concerns, University researchers, and MS/PhD students. This laboratory houses sophisticated micro-meteorological equipment for measuring carbon, water, and energy fluxes. Sensors are tested here in preparation for use at various field study sites. Assist PI in the strategic planning, including determining where new research sites will be established. Responsible for the day to day operations of the laboratory. Collect detailed agro-meteorological data as part of two long-term research programs (AmeriFlux Management Project and Long-Term Agricultural Research Project). Design experiments, develop standards and protocols. Analyze data comparing against previous results and scientific theory, review for quality of data output, ensure data is not compromised, compile the results, and prepare progress reports and publications from the data. Responsible for the installation, maintenance and calibration of highly sophisticated meteorological instruments. Provide technical consultation to the faculty, students and staff. Position is located at Mead, NE. Minimum Required Qualifications: Master's degree in environmental science, agronomy, or related field, plus four years' experience managing/carrying out field experiments in environmental or agronomy science. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, agronomy, or related field, plus education/experience equivalent to a Master's degree may be considered in lieu of the Master's degree. Project management and problem-solving experience required. Knowledge of compliance and safety regulations and demonstrated ability to teach/train others essential. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; and good technical, analytical, organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills necessary. Preferred Qualifications: Prefer field work experience making measurements using micrometeorology sensors; and experience installing, maintaining and calibrating micrometeorological instruments.
