Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Provides administrative and technical support to an ophthalmologist in a clinical setting. Job Description This position is in the Department of Ophthalmology Clinical practice. This position is primarily located at the Center for Outpatient Health. This position is for the Medical School Campus. This position will be required to travel between all of our Adult Clinical locations up to 75% of the time. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Complete a comprehensive work-up for the ophthalmologists and optometrists. Prepare a detailed medical patient history. Answer patient phone messages. Maintain CPR or Basic Life Support certification. Help foster our service culture of positivity and inclusion by maintaining a positive attitude with co-workers and excellent customer service. Cross train to cover front desk as needed. Preferred Qualifications Extensive knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the eye, medical terminology and abbreviations. Excellent communication and patient care skills. Ability to express a caring attitude while performing tasks required with accuracy and efficiency. Ability to maintain patient information in a strict confidential manner. Completion of JCAHPO's home study course. COA is encouraged. Experience in a clinical environment. Familiar with Microsoft Office software. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent high school certification. Two years of experience working in a medical office. Grade C06-H Salary Range $16.17 - $23.47 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
