Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer - Automation will provide technical experience at a local project level for automation, operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to integration, part fabrication and assembly. Lead and implement automation projects, robotics, and capital projects into production in conjunction with other departments. This position will focus on tasks outside the normal operating procedure to tactically improve processes and develop advances in production capability.

Job Responsibilities

• Provides technical experience to rapidly solve issues pertaining to quality, capability & control of product.
• Be a positive team member with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
• Provides automation development to rapidly and tactically solve strategic issues in all aspects of production manufacturing.
• Provide project technical oversight for the development of manufacturing process solutions to complex problems.
• Project manage and implement new automation and robotics projects.
• Assist manufacturing by introducing new techniques to enhance production processes.
• Utilize creativity, innovation, and out-of-the-box thinking to improve current methods of manufacture
• Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
• Supporting the prep. & bid phase (IR1.0 to IR3.0) up to LCG3
• Supporting the team that is responsible for purchasing, procurement of machines, configuration, process verification, etc.
• Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) process
• AS9145 Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
• Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with Automation and Robotics in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.

Preferred Qualifications / Knowledge:

• Project Management experience preferred
• Capability in problem solving, innovative thinking and ability to act and implement solutions.
• Proficient computer skills; proficiency in CAD software (NX) for modeling and technical instructions as well as programming languages
• Ability to work collaboratively, learn and develop automation skills. .
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Develops working relationships through team work and personal drive to succeed
• Prepared to work on the complete range of GKN Aerospace programs, both civil and military.
• Able to travel domestically or internationally as required.
• Good reporting and communication skills on Technical definitions and processes
• Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers.
• Self-motivated, resourceful, strong minded, ownership, and commitment to projects
• Knowledge of Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa robots
• Knowledge of HMI systems, integration, vision systems, and programming languages, .net, python, C#, C++, C
• Knowledge of drawing definition and interpretation. GD&T, tolerance stack-ups
• Knowledge of manufacturing operations, processes and techniques.
