Occupational Summary
The Xenon MRI Shared Resource (https://sites.duke.edu/driehuyslab/) at Duke University is recruiting a Data Manager to support magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) research using hyperpolarized xenon gas imaging, a specialized technique for obtaining high-resolution 3D images of lung function. Our team is advancing this state of the art technology to ultimately help improve the care of patients with a wide range of pulmonary diseases.
The Data Manager will play a central role in managing and maintaining a variety of data used in support of research projects and clinical studies. The position will support multiple aspects of day-to-day lab operations, including coordinating analysis and QC of incoming datasets, data archival and retrieval, generating reports, and creating population-level datasets for statistical analysis. We acquire multiple scans per week which need to be processed and summarized to external stakeholders on an ongoing basis, so the Data Manager must have an attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to track multiple deadlines and priorities.
There will also be opportunities to assist in polarizer operations, develop new data analysis software tools, and assist in larger projects in data analysis and quantification. Candidates should be versatile, creative, and enthusiastic about scientific research.
Work Performed - Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate small team of analysts to ensure timely processing of incoming data. Perform regular QC and update status dashboards. Ensure data is stored properly for future retrieval. Perform image analysis as needed.
- Compile and store non-imaging study data from other sources (e.g. clinical measurements, demographic data) for use in creating analysis datasets
- Combine MRI and non-imaging data into study-level datasets for statistical analysis as needed
- Develop programs and scripts to streamline and automate various aspects of image analysis and data retrieval
- Assist with administrative work and project management for clinical studies with external sponsors
- Generate reports and figures from data as needed to support grants, publications, etc.
- Maintain and improve shared data and documentation infrastructure (network drive, Box, Slack, etc)
- Assist in on-site operation of hyperpolarization equipment as needed
- Develop and participate in additional research projects as schedule and opportunities permit
