Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary The Senior Associate Director of Advancement, Engineering, reports to the Senior Director of Advancement, Engineering. The Senior Associate Director of Advancement is a major gifts officer for the McKelvey Engineering Advancement team. The Senior Associate Director of Advancement is responsible for managing a portfolio of major gift donors; engaging alumni, donors, and friends, and works closely with other Advancement leaders as well as academic and administrative leaders in McKelvey Engineering. The Senior Associate Director is responsible for planning, evaluating, and implementing a strong departmental program for assigned area/region. Job Description This position requires the ability to travel. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of 75 major gift and planned giving prospects. Develop and implement plans for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects and involving Advancement colleagues and administrative and academic leaders as appropriate. Engage prospects and donors in St. Louis and other regions as an assigned. Conduct approximately 120 personal visits each year, complete 20+ solicitations each year, and qualify 25 new prospects each year. Devise and implement solicitation strategies for 25 or more prospects who are capitally rated $100,000 and higher. Assist the Senior Director of Advancement in fundraising efforts, including campaigns, major gifts, leadership annual giving, special initiatives, and endowment support. Work closely with the McKelvey Engineering Advancement team on the planning, execution, and evaluation of programs, special events hosted by McKelvey Engineering Advancement, and communications in order to raise major and annual fund gifts for McKelvey Engineering and the University. Establish and maintain strong and effective working relationships with major internal constituents of McKelvey Engineering, as well as across the university. Develop a broad comprehension of engineering teaching and research programs. Undertake special assignments as needed and perform other duties as assigned.  Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree. Experience with major gift, planned giving, annual fund, and capital campaign, with preference for seven years of experience in a complex university environment.   Proven track record of successful major gift and planned gift solicitations.   Demonstrated management skills, both operational and strategic.   Experience working with volunteer committees and providing staffing to volunteer leaders.   Appreciation of and ability to articulate the mission and aspirations of McKelvey Engineering and Washington University.  Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for individual giving.  Ability to work successfully with diverse constituencies within a complex organization.  Ability to listen carefully, learn quickly, and work effectively with both internal and external constituencies.  Superior communication and writing skills.  Exceptional interpersonal skills.  Required Qualifications Bachelorâ™s degree and a minimum of five years of related experience. Grade G14 Salary Range $68,200.00 - $116,600.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
