Requisition Number: S_220469 Department: Plant Pathology-0843 Description of Work: Provide research and extension support for the corn and sorghum pathology laboratory and PI. Responsibilities include: assisting with plant disease projects in lab, greenhouse and field-based disease management trials; pesticide treatment applications, assist with completion of research experiments, performing basic data collection and analysis; and ordering supplies. Other duties include assisting graduate students and supervising seasonal staff and student workers. Perform equipment maintenance as needed and ensure project and lab supplies are on-site when needed. Irregular hours and working in inclement weather may be required seasonally. Minimum Required Qualifications: Associate degree in agriculture related field plus two years of agricultural experience; equivalent education/experience considered. Familiarity with basic farm equipment. Good oral and written communication ability, organization, record keeping and note taking ability, and mechanical aptitude. Ability to collect and summarize basic data. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with agricultural row crop research; operation and maintenance of research plot equipment; basic diagnostic laboratory equipment and processes; and implementation of field experiments. Demonstrated ability with use of computers. Pesticide applicator license and/or herbicide applicator license. Posted Salary: $17.50/hr minimum Job Type: Full-Time
