Classification Title: Instructor College/Division: USC Lancaster College/Division Department: USC Lancaster - Palmetto College Advertised Salary Range: $50,000 Advertised Job Summary: The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a Palmetto College campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC seeks candidates for a non-tenure track 12- month appointment at the rank of Instructor of Psychology and Counselor beginning August 16, 2022 or January 1, 2023. An Instructor/Counselor will normally teach three courses per year or its equivalent, including evening and distributed learning courses as needed, as well as have a commitment to university/community service. Counselor duties are supervised by the Director of Student Success and Retention under the office of the Associate Dean. Counselor duties include: Providing personal counseling for students Maintaining case files Providing outreach and information about campus and community resources to students Maintaining working relationships with campus partners and external agencies offering related services Consulting, as appropriate, with administrators, faculty, and other staff regarding student clients Coordinating activities with staff members in Counseling and Disability Services Office Collaborating with campus partners and stakeholders to create programming aimed at student awareness and education. Serving on USCL committees (e.g. Care Team) Advertised Minimum Qualifications : Applicants who hold a Masters degree or other appropriate degree in psychology or related field, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in psychology, including credentials necessary for departmental approval to teach introductory courses in PSYC will be considered. Applicants must have appropriate licensure/certification by the State of South Carolina through the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation for providing counseling services.
