Requisition Number: S_220468 Department: School of Natural Resources-0844 Description of Work: Works with climate and remote sensing experts on a variety of operational drought tools and datasets; involved with research projects on an as needed basis. This position will have a familiarity with the R statistical package as well as MATLAB and ESRI ArcGIS and ArcGIS Pro as well as programming and scripting within these packages. Employee should be familiar with the relational databases and experience with Structured Query Language ( SQL ); heavily involved in the migration of the NDMC models to R and assist in the development of a system to map models outside of the current MapCubist system. May be required to present results and processes formally and informally to both internal and external audiences. Minimum Required Qualifications: B.A./B.S. in geography, climatology, meteorology, computer science, statistics, natural resources, GIS , environmental/water sciences, or related field required plus one year experience with GIS applications specifically ESRI ArcGIS and ArcGIS Pro. Excellent computer and organizational skills as well as, oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have a valid driver's license and meet UNL driver eligibility requirements. Preferred Qualifications: M.A./M.S. in geography, climatology, meteorology, computer science, statistics, natural resources, GIS , environmental sciences, or related field. Preference may be shown for individuals with advanced degrees. Three years experience in one or more of the following or one year of experience with a MA/MS 1) advanced skills in the ESRI ArcGIS, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, R and MATLAB packages, 2) familiarity with ERDAS IMAGINE or Exelis VIS ENVI , 3) experience with ESRI ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online ( AGOL ) and Google Earth Engine, 4) familiarity with geoweb services including but not limited to; image, feature, map, kml, json, geojason and OGC services, 5) Experience with statistical applications and environmental modeling/applications, and 6) Programing or scripting experience in R, Python, MATLAB and IDL scripting.
