Job Description


As a valued member of the SF Capital Markets Investor Engagement and Advocacy team, you will provide expert insights, advice, and guidance to key stakeholders on factors influencing the performance of Fannie Mae's issued securities and other financial contracts. Key stakeholders include MBS Industry investors and researchers, Fannie Mae Single-Family Leadership, and the broader Fannie Mae SF Capital Markets organization.

The Capital Markets - Market Transactions - Advisor role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with investors, financial dealers, and other market participants. Provide them with essential insights into factors that may impact the performance of the mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and credit (CRT) securities that we issue.
  • Develop and build strong relationships with internal and external customers through active engagement and inspiring work.
  • Lead and assist team members in tracking financial market activities and related research, understand and evaluate new developments in the market, and report on any potential impact to loan/security performance resulting from either program or policy changes or other exogenous factors.

    • Develop strategies for analyzing financial markets and deal/loan level performance data, generating insights to ensure that Fannie Mae's investor customers have access to everything they need to make sound investment decisions related to our securities.

    • Conceive, develop, and author research commentaries to ensure investors are well-informed about Fannie Mae's policies and securities performance implications.



Minimum Required Experiences
  • 6 years

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Deep experience with mortgages, the MBS and mortgage credit markets, and the financial markets in general preferred
  • Experience analyzing data to generate insights
  • Strong communications skills
  • Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or a technical discipline preferred
  • CFA preferred
  • Experience analyzing data to identify insightful trends or relationships
  • Skilled in creating visual representations of data to communicate insights
  • Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand
  • The group of skills related to Influencing including negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflict
  • The group of skills related to Programming including coding, debugging, and using relevant programming languages
  • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions
  • Skilled in the graphical representation of information in the form of a charts, diagrams, pictures, and dashboards with programs and tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Experience forecasting, predicting, and monitoring financial cash flows
  • The group of skills related to Relationship Management including managing and engaging stakeholders, customers, and vendors, building relationship networks, contracting, etc.
  • The group of skills related to Business Insights including advising, designing business models, interpreting customer and market insights, forecasting, benchmarking, etc.
  • Expertise in using statistical methods, including: developing and testing hypotheses, using experimental design, and running linear and logistic regressions
  • The group of skills related to Sales, Marketing, and PR including marketing products, social media marketing, creating collateral, planning and developing campaigns, managing the media, etc.
  • Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion
  • Skilled in R, Python, SAS, or other programming languages tailored to data analysis
  • Skilled in Excel
  • Skilled in using Bloomberg Professional
  • Skilled in SQL
  • Skilled in Tableau
  • Experience using SharePoint
  • Skilled in using Intex
  • Skilled in using Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Premier Pro, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe XD, and Acrobat DC
  • Experience using JIRA
