Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Unix Engineer or Principal Unix Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The selected candidate will assist with data center design, deployment, and documentation and will need domain knowledge of the existing areas.
Essential Functions:
- Develop engineering and automated deployments for datacenter system configurations.
- Executing engineering projects on schedule.
- Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and redline documented procedures.
- Implement engineering changes to the system as required
- Responsible for integrating and testing software and/or hardware systems in complex IT systems.
- Work closely with Engineers and Technicians in a lab environment.
- Good planning, coordination, and documentation skills are required.
- The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
- Bachelor Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 or more years of STEM related engineering experience; OR Master Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and 0 or more years of experience
- Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, Bash, and KornShell
- Experience deploying, configuring, and hardening Unix servers
- Basic infrastructure knowledge in Backup/Storage and Network technologies
- Bachelor Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 or more years of STEM related engineering experience; OR Master Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and 3 or more years of STEM related engineering experience; OR PhD and 1 or more years of STEM related engineering experience
- Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, Bash, and KornShell
- Experience deploying, configuring, and hardening Unix servers
- Infrastructure automation experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, etc
- Basic infrastructure knowledge in Backup/Storage and Network technologies
- Basic knowledge of Oracle RAC
- Familiar with Agile methodology
- Familiar with version control, GIT experience preferred
- Familiarity with the Solaris and/or Red Hat operating systems
- Ability to author and maintain technical installation, configuration, and update documentation
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
- Active DoD S or TS Clearance
- Active PAR

Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
