Analytical Chemist

Day shift until the end of the year

Objectives/Purpose of Job:

  • Laboratory analysis Of samples of raw materials, in-process and finished
  • product testing using analytical equipment and wet chemistry techniques.
  • Analytical method of development, validation, and transfer of methods for
  • actives. Lead project teams; Routine sample analysis; report writing, HPLC
  • assays; Other analytical assays. This position has no direct reports but at
  • times where management may be unavailable, can provide support to other employees
  • Key Activities/Responsibilities:
  • Author method validations, technical transfers, technical assessments and
  • other significant investigations, and procedures according to current FDA
  • standards and cGMPs.
  • This includes any extensive projects or investigations that may partner with internal Production departments, R&D.
  • Function as a lead role for the department.
  • provide technical, production assistance to Lab staff to plan/coordinate the lab testing schedule. 
  • includes testing of raw materials, in-process, stability and finished product testing.
  • Provide training Of Chemistry Team staff on existing or new analytical methods or laboratory process procedures.
  • Perform production analytical testing, data review and equipment troubleshooting. and repair as needed.
  • Provide equipment validation support.
  • Review existing analytical methods for compliance to Current industry and government standards/guidelines 
  • Scope of Position:
  • Laboratory analysis of samples of raw materials, in-process and
  • finished product testing using analytical equipment and wet
  • chemistry techniques.
  • Analytical method development, validation, and transfer of methods
  • for actives, and related substances. Support of equipment
  • calibration, and validation. Lead project teams; Routine sample
  • analysis; report writing, HPLC, and other analytical assays.
  • Key Relationships:
  • Manufacturing QA Operations and Planning, Engineering,
  • Validation, Global Quality, R&D,  external
  • contract testing laboratories, and equipment/software vendors
  • .Qualifications/Training:
  • Education: BS or MS in Chemistry or related discipline
  • Experience: At least six years previous experience in an analytical
  • laboratory within a regulated manufacturing industry.
  • Must have demonstrated expertise and knowledge in chromatographic techniques and troubleshooting.
  • Previous work in a GMP/ISO laboratory setting is 
  • Required Knowledge of:
  •  Ion exchange chromatography
  •  Ion chromatography HPLC with suppressed conductivity detection.
  • Size exclusion using High Performance Gel Filtration Chromatography(GFC).
  •  High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
  • 'Preferred skills: Demonstrate ability to manage multiple assignments and
  • 'priorities simultaneously. Critical thinking skills. Formulation experience is an added benefit.
