Requisition Number: F_220066 Department: Special Ed & Communic Disorders-1049 Description of Work: The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is searching for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice with expertise in early intervention and/or early childhood special education. This position is non-tenure leading with a 12-month appointment for up to 3 years and renewable thereafter with potential for promotion in rank to Associate or Full Professor of Practice. Responsibilities Coordinate the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's online graduate program in Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education. Teach online graduate courses in early intervention/early childhood education. Recruit and advise graduate students; coordinate and supervise field/practicum and student teaching experiences; seek financial support for personnel preparation; and provide professional outreach and service in the department, college, university, and broader community. Collaborative research opportunities are also possible. The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders ( ) is nationally known for its graduate programs in Special Education, Speech Language Pathology, and Audiology and is committed to innovative inquiry to understand and mitigate learning and behavior disorders, speech/language impairments, and sensory differences. Department faculty are addressing important problems and developing interventions that facilitate academic success, social/emotional development, autonomous communication, sensory access, and rehabilitation throughout the lifespan. Minimum Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Special Education or related area with minimum two years professional employment as an early interventionist, early childhood special educator, or related professional working with young children with disabilities birth to age 5. Teaching experience in higher education is required. Preferred Qualifications: College teaching in special education, early intervention, and/or early childhood special education programs. Experience in distance education pedagogy and technologies; interdisciplinary collaboration or training in early intervention or early childhood special education, Training or experience with young children, ages birth to 5, with sensory differences, autism, or severe disabilities Eligibility for Nebraska teacher certification in early intervention or early childhood special education.
