LinQuest is seeking aSystems Safety Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA.

You will join the Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort of United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Center (SSC). We provide leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) to define and acquire the next generation of space communication systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. You will support activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USSF. You may lead and support working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, identifying and resolving risks and requirements gaps, developing briefings, writing and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes. We seek technical individuals who thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the MSEIT System Safety Government Team by evaluating ESOH risks identified by the government, contractors, or other stakeholders, preparing ESOH documents and providing system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness certification
  • Document, perform, and execute changes to Government System Safety documents
  • Review and participate in government evaluations of contractor documentation to safety assessments, and advise the government team
  • Prepare documents including but not limited to: Programmatic Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE) and Space Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan for space vehicles
  • Prepare and support the System Safety elements of the space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certification
  • Collaborating with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Space Force


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, Science or a technical related field
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoD agencies to commercial industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Extremely motivated individual who is a self-starter and works well in a team environment


Required Experience:

  • 4+ years of systems engineering experience
  • 1+ years of Systems Safety engineering experience, to include System Safety Engineering practices, techniques, and procedures and working with System Safety military standards and regulations
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required for the position


Preferred Experience:

  • Systems engineering certification, such as INCOSE ESEP, CSEP
  • Secret clearance or higher
  • 1+ years’ experience working on a government space systems program
  • 1+ years’ experience working on a SE&I contract
  • 1+ years’ experience communications experience
