Role Overview

As the President, Workforce Optimization and Strategy solutions your goal will be to inspire leadership and execution of the Avantas suite of technology, analytics and consulting services, in alignment with our AMN enterprise strategies and capabilities. This is a role where you will run and grow the business and focus on a combination of services / technology, new customer acquisitions, product and solution development and more. We're seeking an innovative leader who can identify highly relevant solutions for the market to tackle the major challenges of the workforce shortages.

You'll oversee a team consisting of two direct reports (VP of Strategic Operations & Account Management and VP of Analytics & Solutions) and approximately 100 professionals, as well as matrixed leadership of other key functions such as sales, marketing, IT and finance. This role can be viewed as a combination of consulting and analytic services, a technology product (Smart Square®) and outsourced resource management services. Smart Square® is an industry-leading scheduling optimization technology and top rated scheduling system according to industry analysts.

You will achieve success by developing and executing the Workforce Optimization strategic business plan including organizational goals, revenue, profitability and other financial objectives, and competitive priorities. You will closely collaborate and partner with shared services including IT, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Customer Service, and our other business leaders to deliver product enhancements and improved solutions that foster growth and address future market needs.

Finally, it's important to note that this role will be a key leader contributing to the success of AMN's overall portfolio of workforce solutions by partnering with other service lines to provide a more robust and integrated set of offerings for the market.

Role Specifics

More specifically, your key duties and responsibilities will be to:
  • Lead the entire Workforce Optimization and Strategy business in a manner that leverages strategic direction and execution in order to maximize organizational, operational and financial performance.
  • Report financial results to the CEO, CFO, & Board of Directors including the early identification of market trends, projections detailing revenue, profitability opportunities and workforce initiatives in order to refine the strategic operating plans to outpace market factors.
  • Develop operational and financial plans in partnership with key members of the executive committee, management team and finance.
  • Strategize with senior leadership on a regular basis to evaluate division projections and KPIs to approve action plans that address fluctuating division performance and exceed monthly revenue and operations plan.
  • Establish company goals that support enterprise-wide strategies and execute through senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify new business and market opportunities that augment or diversify AMN's business by working with clients, providers, environmental factors (e.g. legislation), related external businesses, CEO, AMN senior leaders and teams to analyze trends in order to build new revenue sources, including merger and acquisition opportunities.
  • Evaluate overall performance and leadership effectiveness for the Workforce Optimization management team by measuring key performance indicators with respect to business drivers in order to recognize opportunities to improve revenue and profitability growth.
  • Ensure the quality of technology solutions and meet or exceed client expectations related to service levels and value / outcomes.
  • Partner with Information Technology leaders and resources on the maintenance, performance and development of technology solutions.
  • Build a leadership pipeline by partnering with an HR Business Partner to assess talent, identify gaps and build workforce capabilities in order to manage succession of core positions.
  • Cascade corporate strategic initiatives to leaders and team members in order to reinforce execution of performance and development expectations.
  • Coach and mentor leaders on leadership responsibilities by observing and providing feedback in order to foster development and succession, utilizing the IDP, PSP & PIP processes.
  • Prepare company presentations for monthly, quarterly and annual meetings in order to update the entire AMN organization on financial and organizational strengths and gaps.
  • Guide employee and leader concerns by advocating for team members while maintaining compliance with corporate and legal perspectives in order to minimize workforce disruptions and retain committed team members.
  • Leverage and engage corporate resources, shared services and policies to achieve strategic and financial goals with the largest return on investment.

The Ideal Candidate

To be a strong fit for this opportunity you will have the following:
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of senior, strategic leadership experience including a background in healthcare operations. Healthcare consulting experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with technology, SaaS and/or cloud-based customer facing products.
  • P&L responsibility experience of at least $25M - $50M.
  • The ability to translate market / customer needs into innovation and roadmaps
  • Change management abilities. Experience with integrations / acquisitions preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build strong business partnerships with clients, vendors, team members throughout the organization, leaders, clinicians and other key contacts.
  • Experience with team member engagement & retention, career pathing, professional development and Diversity Equity & Inclusion.
  • The ability to attract and retain talent in a highly competitive field.
  • The ability to influence (externally and internally) in order to generate growth and improved business outcomes.

  • Experience in a matrixed environment will be helpful.

This role is Dallas based and has a travel requirement of approximately 25-50% of the time as needed to meet with clients and engage in other internal and external meetings.
