Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

Candidates will work on software supporting various space, aircraft, and ground systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle including requirements, design, development and test. Candidates will work on software systems primarily written in Python, C and C++, with a focus toward embedded software test. This position is for a software tester with a primary focus on unit testing and level 1 requirements verification; the selected candidate would be embedded with a critical Scrum team.

Essential Functions:
- Ensure software quality through unit testing and level 1 requirements verification
- Support software integration and system testing
- Assist in system design and troubleshooting
- Modify/improve/replace existing unit test framework to deliver higher quality and automation
- Interface with all external stakeholders including systems engineers, customers, and QA
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in both development and lab environments, and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers. They should have experience with the C and/or C++ programming languages and object oriented programming.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of software engineering experience OR Master's Degree in STEM and 12 years of software engineering experience OR PhD in STEM and 9 years of software engineering experience
- Experience testing software written in C or C++
- Working knowledge of embedded software test methods
- Must have experience with formal software life cycle development methodologies, requirements through test
- Experience with one or more Agile methodologies such as SCRUM, Xtreme Programming and/or Kanban
- An active in-scope DoD TOP SECRET clearance
- The ability to obtain and maintain program access

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
- Experience testing software running on the VxWorks or Green Hills INTEGRITY Real Time Operating System
- Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
- Availability to support occasional travel (10%-15%)
- Experience with Python and test automation

Salary Range: $156,000 USD - $234,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
