POSITION SUMMARY

As a key member of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY, the Director of Arts Administration will lead and continue to develop the undergraduate minor, master of science, and online advanced certificate in arts administration. This is an administrative position that also includes teaching two courses per semester in the arts administration program.

The ideal candidate will be someone with extensive experience as an arts administrator as well as significant college teaching experience, preferably including experience teaching graduate courses in arts administration or arts management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties specific to this position:

Teach two courses per semester within the Arts Administration Program.

Oversee and execute internal and external marketing and publicity for the Arts Administration Program, in conjunction with Offices of Undergraduate & Graduate Admission.

Play a lead role in recruitment through participation in college-wide open houses and admissions events, as well as interactions with prospective high school and college students.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with cultural organizations in Central New York and beyond.

Lead the planning and execution of Arts Administration programming, guest lectures and events.

Oversee registration for graduate Arts Administration courses, including coordination of scheduling with the MBA office.

Oversee the Arts Administration Learning Assessment (SLA) process each academic year.

Hire, supervise and evaluate graduate arts administration faculty and graduate assistant.

Oversee course scheduling for all arts administration courses.

Oversee arts administration program budget.

Oversee new course development and maintain catalog for arts administration courses.

Serve as primary point of contact for arts administration internships, in conjunction with other faculty.

Attend Dean's meetings with chairs and program directors.

Maintain contact with alumni

Manage program scholarship fund

Serve as academic advisor for graduate arts administration students.

Master’s Degree required; preferably in Arts Administration, Arts Management, or closely related field. 

College-level teaching experience in arts administration. 

Experience as an arts administrator.

Demonstrated management and organizational skills, including budget and cost control facility.

Proven creative skills, including experience in marketing and public relations. 

Ability to work constructively with staff in all departments in order to meet defined organizational, department, and program goals.
