The Department of Neurology at the University of Iowa is seeking a Post-Baccalaureate Research Intern. Responsibilities will include assisting physicians and clinical research nurse coordinators with all aspects of clinical research, including the recruitment and retention of subjects, conducting research study assessments with patients, study visit preparation and documentation, visit scheduling, IRB documentation preparation, data collection, data entry, processing and shipping of lab samples for clinical trials, and assisting with other various research studies related activities. The intern will assist team members with coordination, workflow and evaluations in a multidisciplinary clinic. The selected individual will also perform clinical/health care research activities in a skilled/specialized area, screening patients for study eligibility and consent for clinical trials. They will educate patients on scope of study, potential risks and benefits, possible alternatives, and study requirements. They will also relay information to principal investigator and clinical research nurse coordinator, and verify patient eligibility. A successful candidate must have flexibility in their schedule to occasionally work early mornings, evenings or weekends, and to travel to study-related meetings and conferences.
