Systems Engineering Product Specialist - PACCAR Resident Engineer


  • (Hybrid/Remote) - This role requires periodic on-site work, as well as working remotely_ *

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key OEM stakeholders and decision makers
  • Support a major truck OEM's (PACCAR) technical development operations
  • Be an onsite technical representative of the Eaton Cummins Joint Venture.
  • Primary point-of-contact between OEM customers and Transmission Product Team
  • Communicate requirements from OEM to product team
  • Assist with developing new features and functions
  • Integrate automated mechanical transmissions into OEM vehicles:
  • Communicate and implement installation requirements for mechanical, electrical and communication subsystems
  • Ensure functional behavior of all systems meets requirements for performance, fuel economy and safety
  • Interface with multiple engineering functions at the OEM, gathering customer requirements, working with product engineering to implement new functionality, and supporting OEM validation testing to confirm that system and functional requirements are met.
  • Perform Engine Certification to ensure compatibility with automated mechanical transmission requirements
  • Tune automated mechanical transmission software to meet OEM requirements for shift points, fuel economy and performance
  • Analyze and resolve transmission and vehicle fault codes
  • Analyze CAN bus communications between Engine, Transmission, and other vehicle components
  • Assist with Fuel economy testing and tuning
  • Support Hardware in the loop testing
  • Participate in OEM test trips

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a relevant discipline area is required
  • Working knowledge of powertrain and drivetrain systems (engines, transmissions, axles)
  • Technical skills and working knowledge including: Engine operations, Transmission operations, CAN communication, Basic electrical and electronics, Understanding of basic control systems theory.
  • Comfortable working at OEM customer sites, often as the only member of Eaton Cummins Joint Venture
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, University, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in relevant disciplines is preferred.
