The Melbourne Manned Aircraft Design (MAD) Center of Excellence (CoE) is seeking a Sr Principal Software Engineer to fill a software role.

This position is located in Melbourne, FL.
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs deployment scripts and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Skills/Requirements
  • Active DoD Secret level clearance is required to apply, with the ability to obtain (and maintain) special program access (PAR)
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Or Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Or PhD degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • 1+ years experience in SDLC, DevOps, and Enterprise Development Tools
  • 2-3 years experience with Python or other scripting languages
  • Advanced demonstrated proficiency and experience with one or more of the following:
    • Subversion, Git, or other Version Control Systems (VCS)
    • Build and Deploy Automation
    • Shell Scripting
    • Continuous Integration and Continuous Deploy
Preferred Skills/Requirements
  • Experience installing and upgrading Artifactory, Xray, and Mission Control on premise
  • Experience using and administering Artifactory in a large-scale enterprise environment
  • Experience setting up High Availability (HA) for Artifactory
  • Experience fine tuning Artifactory for best performance
  • Experience setting up Single Sign On (SSO) for Artifactory
  • Extensively used build automation tools like Maven, Ant, cmake, Gradle, or Ivy for the building of deployable artifacts or pulling from an Authoritative Source of Truth
  • Experience with cmake and developing cmake scripts
  • Experience in automation technologies like Puppet, Chef, and Ansible for configuration management or setting the desired state configuration
  • Ability to work closely with teams to ensure high quality and timely delivery of build and release
  • Extensive experience in defining the branching and merging strategies, creating baselines and releasing code. Worked with defect management tools like Jira
  • Experienced in Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, and most recently Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) practices
  • Hands on experiences with managing various deployment and build platforms and deployment strategies
  • Experience with various Cloud technologies such as Docker, MS Azure

Salary Range: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
