LinQuest Corporation is seeking a Junior Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) Architectto join our team in El Segundo, CA.

This position is nominally full-time (part-time may be considered upon request), requiring availability for on-site access to LA AFB as needed remote work flexibility.

This position works for the Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Systems Integration Office (SSC/ZA) to focus on developing government reference and portfolio level architectures aligned with future USSF force design and enabling enterprise level interoperability and flexibility. The candidate shall provide systems engineering, and road mapping support to shape the future of the United States Space Force (USSF) Enterprise Architecture. The candidate shall work side by side with SSC personnel in the performance of engineering tasks applying critical thinking concerning solutions to current threat environments for National Security Space (NSS) customers. Experience with Digital Engineering, including MBSE, is required to support USSF objective of being the first “digital force.” Experience in at least one space architecture mission domain is desired to meet the goal of SSC/ZA’s cross-enterprise architecting and analysis efforts, providing high quality decision support products to the SSC and USSF senior decision makers for the space acquisition enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Systems of Systems (SoS) Engineering tasking, analysis, and products to support the control of SSC engineering processes and products to ensure pedigreed and highly credible products are being generated within SSC
  • Using MBSE, perform cross-mission area architecture development through the identification of potential synergies and efficiencies across multiple mission areas based off Program office developed to-be architectures
  • Using MBSE, develop candidate functional, logical architectures that resolve common functions into common/enterprise solutions and reduce the cost associated with acquiring and maintaining multiple systems to achieve the same function and promote the use of common standards
  • Apply DOD architecture, style guide, and Digital engineering policies, principles, and instructions to DE products developed
  • Analyze space enterprise future “enterprise” and “portfolio” requirements and alignment to the functional/ logical/ data architecture and standards.
  • Evaluate and characterize the known trade-spaces and ensure requirements mapping of newly developed enterprise-level cross-mission area architectures
  • Prepare draft briefings, reports, trip reports, or papers as appropriate to support stakeholder discussions, document meetings, or document evaluation findings


Required Skills/ Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Trained in MBSE and SySML
  • Five (5) years total experience in space systems, with a focus in systems engineering and MBSE (or two (2) years with MS degree)
  • Experience participating in requirements and interface development as part of the systems engineering, architecting, and integration process
  • Effective interpersonal and team-building skills, to engage at both the engineer and management levels to build confidence and collaboration
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communications
  • Must be eligible for TS/SCI clearance to be considered for the position

Preferred Skills/ Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or equivalent Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
  • Two (2) years MBSE experience, including advanced applications of MBSE / DE capabilities with knowledge and formation all SysML diagram types employing Cameo and/or Sparx EA
  • Experience working directly as an interface with military and other government representatives, FFRDC (e.g. Aerospace) representatives, and SSC’s prime contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors
  • Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) Level 1/2
