Department Overview

As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

The APAC Independent Risk Management (IRM) Strategy Planning & Governance (SPG) group is responsible for supporting Wells Fargo's APAC Regional Chief Risk Officer (RCRO) in managing Strategy and Transformation, Business Planning and Operations, and Governance and Controls. This role reports to Head of SPG in APAC RCRO office.

About the Role

As part of the strategic growth and enhancing capabilities of the APAC risk organization, the APAC Regional Chief Risk Officer (RCRO)'s office is looking for a high-caliber project manager with risk management and/or compliance/operational risk experience to drive the delivery of multiple projects and manage book of work for risk related projects and initiatives. 


  • Support the regional risk strategy and priorities
  • Take a lead in the delivery and implementation of the risk projects
  • End-to-end project management including progress tracking and reporting, identifying issues and resolving them, project status updates, planning and analysis.
  • Ensure projects are on track and requirements are clear whilst addressing process and resource efficiencies issues and formulating strategic solutions.
  • Drive coordination across the various risk functions when participating in the regional strategic initiatives or regulatory routines/special efforts
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to drive consensus and deliver forward-looking solutions 
  • Manage risk book of work including project pipeline for ideation and project planning 
  • Research, gather requirements & draft business cases for new initiatives/opportunities


  • Qualified degree, ideally with relevant professional qualifications such as risk management and project management.
  • Minimum 7 – 10 years relevant experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Risk Assurance, Risk Advisory, Compliance and / or Internal Control gained from the Financial Services sector or Specialist Consulting firms focusing on Financial Services.
  • Solid analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions.
  • Strong Project Management skills with experience in delivering sizeable / complex regional projects.
  • Deep attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation & communication skills including proficiency in relevant programs/software including excel and powerpoint
