ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Computer Network Defense (CND) Systems Engineer to support an Intelligence Community (IC) customer in Washington, DC.  Candidate will support new requirements gathering, evaluate new requirements, perform new capability analysis, new technology and vendor research, complete analysis of alternatives, Lab build-out design and testing, perform proof-of-concept designs and tests, and provide detailed reports with findings and recommendations going forward.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide cyber security services for networks

  • Analyze threat intelligence, correlating actionable security events, and reviewing network traffic alerts to identify compromises in DoD customer networks or hosts.

  • Review DoD and open-source intelligence for threats

  • Utilize alerts from end points, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)/Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), netflow, and custom sensors to identify compromises on customer networks/endpoints

  • Reviewing log files, pivot between data sets, and providing evidence for incident investigations.

  • Identify Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and integrating those into sensors and Security Information and Event Management systems (SIEMs)

  • Triaging alerts to identify malicious actors on custom

  • Collaborate with technical leads and team members to ensure successful delivery of projects

  • Minimal local travel may be required between government customer site (Washington, DC) and contractor site (Springfield, VA)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other closely related IT discipline and 2 or more years of relevant experience

  • Possess IAT Level II

  • Familiarity and/or experience protecting network environments against insider threat

  • Experience with DISA STIGs

  • Experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data (e.g., Netflow, Full Packet Capture), and other attack artifacts in support of incident investigations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAFe Agile Scrum Development methodologies with a cross-functional team approach

  • Familiarity with Splunk

  • Understanding of common vulnerability management tools

  • CND experience (Protect, Detect, Respond and Sustain) within a Computer Incident Response organization

  • IA System Architects and Engineers (IASAE) Level III certification

  • Possess Cyber Security Service Provider – Information Security (CSSP-IS) certification

  • Possess IAT Level III certification

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • TS/SCI eligible and obtain a Counterintelligence (CSP) polygraph. (Current TS/SCI clearance (or active TS with SCI eligibility) with a Polygraph or ability to obtain a Polygraph before starting employment).

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
