JOB SUMMARY: The Coordinator supports the overall operations of the public relations team, including the execution of overall programs and tactics, participation in department planning, pitching media, monitoring coverage related to Universal Orlando and media visits, and more.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with development and execution of creative and strategic tactics to garner media coverage – including PR plan development, helping lead or support PR tactics, assisting with special event logistics and other project support as needed, etc.
  • Manage and build relationships with assigned media, brainstorm and implement pitches and story ideas, and secure coverage placements for Universal Orlando Resort
  • Assists with research needs and monitoring media coverage, including real-time updates on important stories relating to UOR, its competitors or industry related issues
  • Maintain Cision internal databases, including updating media lists, and assist with Cision distributions to media targets
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

SCOPE: The Coordinator for Public Relations assists with department initiatives ranging from tactics supporting annual events and attraction openings to opportunistic projects and television development. This person is also responsible for building relationships with key media and brainstorming/implementing pitch ides to generate coverage for Universal Orlando. This person is also responsible for conducting various research projects pertaining to Universal Orlando as assigned, updating the department’s media list database, and assisting in the distribution of press releases and other media materials.

 

EDUCATION: High school degree or GED is required; Bachelor’s degree is required - Public Relations, Communications or related field

 

EXPERIENCE: 1-3 Years: of related experience in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of communications field a must; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
