We are looking for an Electronics Engineer to support the development of a new family of tools at the Applied Materials. Main activities include schematic design & review, manufacturing (PCBA) support; prototype board bring-up, PCB/system level test, inventory management, etc.

You will be working along-side engineers from other teams on an exciting new technology that will significantly impact our industry and will provide solid personal career growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test, debug, repair, and modify a range of PCBs and system to support a large system deployment.
  • Work with other engineers to manage hardware lab setup, equipment, track PCB debug status and perform simple rework to repair PCBs and systems.
  • Perform PCB and system level testing by running diagnostic software and other testing programs.
  • Use tracking software to keep record of all prototypes.
  • Support manufacturing testing and debug effort of the product (in prototype and production).
  • Resolve hardware/system issues that involve cooperation of cross-functional teams and sites with a collaborative manner.
  • Actively provide technical support to SW, FW, QA, field team and customers.
  • Participate in schematic/layout/bom review for new electrical design and replacement candidates review for end-of-life, long-lead-time components.

The candidate selected for this position will possess and demonstrate the following skills, education and experience, as detailed below:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Must have 4+ years of experience designing complex PCBs with analog and digital components.
  • In-depth knowledge of schematic design tools (ie Orcad) and simulation tools (ie Spice).
  • Electrical Engineering experience with medium volume manufacturing, PCBA, bring-up, testing and shipping.
  • Experience troubleshooting with Electrical Equipment (Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, DMMs, etc).
  • Previous experience designing embedded systems - experience integrating FPGA’s is a plus.
  • Experience in testing and debugging of optical systems/optoelectronic assemblies and prior experience working with a range of detectors and light sources such as PDs, LEDs, laser diodes and related assemblies a big plus.
  • Strong time management skills with an emphasis on managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communications skills, organizational skills and sense of collaboration.
  • Energy and desire to thrive in a start-up like environment.
