The Equipment Category Manager will be responsible for the development of strategic plans surrounding Universal Pressure Pumping’s (UPP) Equipment portfolio. This position supports the organization by developing and executing supply strategies, sourcing events, contracts negotiations and management as required. Support of Operations through working with internal Supply Chain stakeholders will be critical for the role’s success. This position works under the direction of the Supply Chain Director.

Detailed Description:

  • Accountable for planning and implementing long, medium, and short-range category plans focused on surety of supply, efficiencies/optimization, and total cost of ownership
  • Responsible for stakeholder management during all phases of the category management process
  • Provide guidance and leadership for Request for Price (RFP) development and evaluation, negotiations, supplier selection, and award recommendation as determined
  • Lead strategic sourcing events, spot bidding, or other activities coming out of the equipment category plan
  • Implement Supplier Relationship Management programs with key vendors to enhance supplier improvement using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), customer feedback, and spend trending
  • Incorporate internal and external data and trends to act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on assigned category in executing strategic sourcing initiatives and other cost reduction/value creation studies
  • Understand supply/demand trends, market players, and category dynamics to manage initiative planning and execution
  • Understand and use should cost modeling principles and other cost models to manage commercial negotiations and contract negotiations to support the equipment category
  • Prepare and lead fact-based negotiations and execute contracts utilizing approved terms and conditions
  • Work with stakeholders in implementing category strategies including contract awards, supplier performance metrics (where applicable), and ongoing performance improvement initiatives
  • Execute performance management of high spend, strategic impact suppliers as needed
  • Represent the Company and our values with integrity while maintaining the highest ethical and legal standards with all interactions

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation
  • Possess strong analytical skills, including the ability to perform detailed market analysis
  • Effective customer service and ability to manage a diverse customer base
  • Skilled in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite applications, such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and work under time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when adversity and multiple initiatives/priorities are encountered
  • Excellent networking skills complemented by the ability to develop and sustain strategic relationships
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team, with minimal supervision
  • Maintain professional demeanor in all situations and with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels, and third parties

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field of study
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a Supply Chain or Technical Sales, and/ or other business - related roles
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of supply chain within the oil & gas industry, preferably with pressure pumping as an integral part of the business                         

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree/MBA in related field of study
  • Supply Chain related certifications

Additional Details:

The Equipment Category Manager must work with an emphasis on individual safety and safety for others, including coworkers and third parties. Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
