Position Information: Position Title: Software Engineering Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor Appointment Type: Faculty Job Description: Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECpE) at Iowa State University ( www.ece.iastate.edu ) invites applications for a term teaching faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor level to coordinate and teach undergraduate courses in the software engineering program (overseen by the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the College of Engineering) per academic year.  These courses must be taught in person.  This is a full-time term faculty, 9-month position for an initial 3-year term with potential for renewal.  Term faculty members are not eligible for tenure but can be reviewed for advancement into senior ranks. Candidates are expected to have an excellent record of achievement in teaching or engineering practice in Computer or software engineering or a closely related discipline.  Successful candidates will have experience that demonstrates the capability for long-term leadership in engineering education.  Candidates are also expected to exhibit excellent communication skills and share our commitment to achieving excellence through diversity and inclusion. Required Minimum Qualifications: Candidates for this position must hold a degree(s) in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related field. Candidates at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank must have a Ph.D., an MS plus 3 years of relevant work experience, or a BS degree plus 5 years of relevant work experience.  Candidates at the Associate Teaching Professor rank must have either a record of teaching experience; and either a Ph.D. plus 5 years of relevant work experience, an MS degree plus 8 years of relevant work experience, or a BS degree plus 10 years of relevant work experience. Candidate at the Full Teaching Professor rank must have a record of teaching experience; and either a Ph.D. plus 10 years of relevant work experience, an MS degree plus 13 years of relevant work experience, or a BS degree plus 15 years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations. Evidence of ability to excel in the classroom teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Experience in teaching classes with topics such as software project management, software architecture, or software testing and maintenance. Teaching experience in ABET-accredited programs that exceed the minimum requirements for the rank. Industry experience in software project management, software architecture, software development, or software testing.
