Description of the Job:
The Electrical Engineering Co-op will support the Product Development Team in daily tasks and drive assigned project deliverables to completion. The engineer is expected to take ownership of tasks from 'start to finish' which includes planning, execution, lab work, data analysis, and generating engineering reports. The position will provide the student with hands-on, real world experience in New Product Development in Engineering.

Main Responsibilities:
• Assist in design and testing of new product concepts
• Assist in development and testing of embedded software
• Execution of DVT (Design Verification Tests) for electronics and software
• Plan and execute long term testing requiring the design and manufacturing of complex test fixture
• Generate Engineering Reports and Lab Procedures

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at an accredited institution
  • Familiarity with Excel, MatLab, and/or Labview
  • Proficiency with circuit modeling, schematic capture, and/or layout software
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Lab Equipment - Oscilloscope, Power Supplies, Digital Multimeter, etc.
  • Knowledge of electronics and their functional concepts
  • Candidate should have a willingness to learn, be a self-starter, and take on challenges
  • Previous Co-op or Internship Experience
  • Familiarity with Altium Schematic and Layout Capture
  • 2 to 3 years of completed academic coursework
Job Scope:
  • The selected Co-op will work within the CTIP Engineering team on a wide variety of projects and assignments, including but not limited to new product development, core technology, sustaining engineering, quality improvement, and/or cost reduction.
  • S/he will conduct and support product testing in key cryopump & cryocooler projects at Edwards.
  • The candidate will compile, chart, analyze, and report out results on assigned projects.
  • The candidate will also complete and manage engineering change requests through final implementation as needed.

  • This role sits within Edwards Vacuum, the CTIP Product company in Chelmsford which is part of the newly formed Semi Chamber Solutions Division within Atlas Copco's Vacuum Technique business area. It provides a complete range of Equipment and value-added services for customers in a range of applications & processes, depending on the market.
