JOB SUMMARY: The Manager, Directory Services leads the directory services initiatives for the IT Security organization with Universal Parks & Resorts (UPR). This role partners with other cyber security leaders and UPR stakeholders to support the design, development, and deployment of secure solutions with respect to directory services by understanding the technical aspects of the business problems and technical leadership across many different technology stacks and platforms. As a member of the IT Governance & Information Security (Gov & InfoSec) team, the Manager, Directory Services functions as a strategic thought leader and subject matter expert for securing directory services. This includes helping to identify gaps in capabilities, evaluating new tools, and working with senior leadership to define strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role.


  • Lead directory services team by designing, implementing, and deploying secure solutions both on premise and in the cloud. These solutions will include Microsoft Active Directory and may integrate with Ping Identity Products, Sailpoint as well as non-directory service products.
  • Drive the security of existing directory services integrations as part of the Security Architecture and Engineering (SAE) team. This includes deploying initiatives like Active Directory Security Enhancements (ADSE) on a global network.
  • Identify areas where automation can be leveraged to improve overall efficiency and implement (build) effective solutions.
  • Represent UPR directory services as part of the larger Identity and Access Management (IAM) team.
  • Identify and communicate key risks and security posture to senior leadership; build effective relationships across UPR business units; mentor junior security engineers and architects; build and contribute to communities of excellence as appropriate.
  • Lead initiatives to ensure the technology vision is realized.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or Cyber Security required
  • Master’s degree preferred; or combined applicable work experience.


  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience working in a technical area as part of a large team (Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, DevSecOps, Infrastructure, Networking, Cyber Security, Architecture).
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM) experience is required.
  • Experience deploying, managing, securing, and optimizing Active Directory for large enterprises.
  • Experience with non-Microsoft directory service solutions.
  • Experience programming or scripting (preferably Python or Powershell).
  • Experience working with applicable data security, compliance and privacy legal and regulatory frameworks preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Expert knowledge of Active Directory (proficiency above and beyond setting up a domain) with strong knowledge of non-Microsoft directory services (Ping Identity Products, Sailpoint, etc).
  • Experience deploying automation solutions in a global network.
  • Must be comfortable writing scripts to automate tasks (preferably Python or Powershell).
  • Must be comfortable working with alerting and reporting management tools (e.g. Splunk, ServiceNow, etc) including creating custom alerts and dashboards.
  • Experience managing PKI and certificates.
  • Flexible and adaptable regarding learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills; highly collaborative; personally and professionally self-aware; ability to and interested in interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment, as well as sound business sense with a strategic, conceptual and operational orientation.
  • Ability to produce high quality technical documentation.
  • Ability to work overtime hours to meet project deadlines.
